The Bookbinding Essentials is a bookbinding kit developed for a workshop for ING (Inspire Network Generate), a design initiative in Dubai.

The intent of the design was to introduce tactile elements such as contrasts in textures and opacities that entice hands-on interaction. The varying paper choices including velum, recycled kraft and textured card stock, act as a tactile divider from page to page. Minimal typographic elements allow the form and textures of the materials to call attention to themselves. Each booklet features a velum hole-pattern reference sheet, two binder’s needles, waxed thread and clamp clips.
